Shintoku
Shintoku (新得町 Shintoku-chō) is a town in Kamikawa District, in the west of Tokachi Subprefecture. It is located in the extreme north west of the subprefecture, bordering on both the Hidaka Mountains and Daisetsuzan National Park. The main industries are dairy and arable farming and tourism.
The main JR Nemuro railway line from Sapporo to Obihiro passes through Shintoku. It is also the terminus of the JR Sekishō Line (石勝線) from Minami-Chitose.
In 2006, Shintoku had a population of 7,140. It has a land area of 1,064 km².

- Bear Mountain Karikachi Kogen, tel 0156 64 7007 [1] Bear park with high rise walkway etc. Open 26 April to 26 October (2008): 09.00 to 17.00 (April, May) 08.00 to 17.00 (June to September), 08.00 to 16.00 (October).
- Karikachi Pass The main railway line from Sapporo to eastern Hokkaido used to go over the Karikachi Pass, however the modern line (1966) goes through a tunnel under it.
- Kuttari Onsen (くったり温泉) Hot spring.
- Kuttari Lake Formed by a dam on the Tokachi River.
- Sahoro (サホロ) International resort for skiing and other outdoor activities located near the Karikachi Pass.
- Sahoro Lake Reservoir used for canoeing.
- Shintokuyama Park (新得山自然公園 Shintokuyama Shizen Kōen)
- Tomuraushi Onsen (トムラウシ温泉) Remote hot spring beneath Mount Tomuraushi.

- Kyodogakusha (共働学舎) Aza Shintoku 9-1, tel 0156 69 5600 [4] [5]. Cheese creamery and 'Mintaru' restaurant. Ten different cheeses both soft and hard including Raclette, two kinds of Camembert, cream cheese etc. Open 10.00-17.00, closed first and third Tuesdays of the month.
- Mount Shintoku Ski Area (新得山スキー場) tel 0156 64 5546 [6] [7]. Three slopes of up to 1,300 metres and one ski lift. Steepest incline 32 degrees. Day pass 2,000 yen. Located 10 minutes by foot from JR Shintoku Station.
- Sahoro Youth Hostel Minami 2-26, Shintoku-chō 4, tel 0156 64 6550 [8]. (Despite the name this is in Shintoku Town near the JR station, not at the Sahoro resort area.)
- Tokachi Adventure Club (TAC) (TAC とかちアドベンチャークラブ) 539-2 Aza Kuttari, tel 0156 65 2727 [9] [10]. Outdoor sports: rafting, kayaks, snow shoeing, cross-country and back country skiing, tree climbing.

- Village 432 Kita Shintoku 98, tel 0156 64 4320 [11]. Restaurant, English-style horse riding and cottages for rent. Located off Route 38.
- Yorkshire Farm Kita Shintoku, tel 0156 64 4948 [12] Ten-hectare sheep farm, restaurant, with 13 rooms (bed and breakfast) from 6,500 yen per person per night. Established 1988.
