Sarabetsu
Sarabetsu (更別村 Sarabetsu-mura) is an agricultural village in Kasai District, in the central, southern part of Tokachi Subprefecture.
In 2006, Sarabetsu had a population of 3.404. It has a land area of 176 km². Based on national health insurance expense figures, which are the lowest per capita in Hokkaidō, this village claims to have the healthiest population on the island!

History
Flora
Sarabetsu is one of a few places in Hokkaido where the dwarf birch Betula tatewakiana (ヤチカンバ Yachikanba) is found. This is a relic species left over from the last glaciation. It grows to a height of 1.5 m [1].

- Sumomo no Sato Sarabetsu 189. [2] Plum Garden with 1,000 trees in 2.5 hectares. Flowering mid to late May.
- Tokachi International Speedway (更別十勝インタナショナルスピードウエイ) Kowa 477, tel 0155 52 3910. Hokkaido's first international motor sports circuit 5.1 km long with a grandstand for 11,000 spectators.
