Nakasatsunai
Nakasatsunai (中札内村 Nakasatsunai-mura) is an agricultural village in Kasai District, on the western side of Tokachi Subprefecture.
In 2006, Nakasatsunai had a population of 4,109. It has a land area of 293 km². Wheat and barley, and beans and vegetables are grown and there are dairy farms.

History
Satsunai is from the Ainu sachinai meaning 'dry river'. The full name of the village refers to its location on the middle section of the Satsunai River.

- Beans Museum (Tokachi Agriculture Museum, Nakasatsunai Visitor Center) (中札内村豆資料館) Ōdōri, Minami 7-14, tel 0155 68 3390 [1]. Small library, kitchen, 'laboratory', and historical exhibition room — devoted to beans. Next to the Michi no Eki Nakasatsunai (see below).
- Hanabatake Farm (花畑牧場) tel 0155 69 4333 [2]. Farm of TV personality Yoshitake Tanaka. Produces several kinds of cheese including a blue Camembert, tomme (a low fat cheese), mascarpone and mozzarella.
- Hidaka Mountains Centre (日高山脈山岳センター) (see Satsunai River Park below).
- Nakasatsunai Bijutsumura (中札内美術村 Nakasatsunai Bijutsumura) Nakasatsunai Art Village [3] Sakae, Higashi 4-sen. Owned by the Rokkatei Confectionery Company of Obihiro, this comprises five art galleries (works by artists connected with Tokachi including Chokko Sakamoto, Junsaku Koizumi, Kyuichiro Aihara and Tetsuya Sekiguchi) and two restaurants in a daimyo oak (kashiwa) wood. Paths are made from the wood sleepers of the old Hiroo railway line. Open from the end of April to the beginning of November.
- Piitan Farm (ピータン農園) tel 0155 68 3117. Open 10.00-17.00, May to October. Organic strawberries, self-picking.
- Rokka no Mori (六花の森) Nishi 3-249-6, Tokiwa, tel 0155 63 1000 [4]. A new garden opened in 2007 by the Rokkatei Confectionery Company next to their factory. Located on the west side of Nakasatsunai beside the Satsunai River. Open 10.00 to 16.00, closed in winter.

- Satsunai River Park (札内川園地) Minami Satsunai tel 0155 69 4378 (Hidaka Mountains Centre) [5]. Located in the foothills of the Hidaka Mountains on Route 111, an ambitous, but hitherto unfinished, road intended to link the area with Sapporo in the west. The park includes a ruined dam called Pyotan Falls, the Hidaka Mountains Centre, displaying information about the natural history of the Hidaka Mountains (open from April to October), and 'bungalow cabins' available for rent.
